Created by Yggdrasil, Monkeys Go Bananas MultiMax showcases a tropical pirate theme centered around playful monkeys and treasure chests. This video slot features five reels and three rows, providing 243 ways to achieve a win. Each spin activates the Avalanche feature, causing winning symbols to vanish and new ones to cascade into their places. With every avalanche, a wild symbol is assured to appear in a random empty position, heightening the thrill of the game.
Above each reel lies a multiplier; when a wild lands on a reel, that specific reel's multiplier increases by +1. Wins that involve multiple reels with enhanced multipliers are combined and multiplied, which can lead to significant payouts. In the base game, if an avalanche does not yield a win, these multipliers reset. Landing three scatter symbols on the middle reels (2, 3, and 4) triggers free spins, granting eight spins at no cost.
During the free spins, the reel multipliers remain active and do not reset after non-winning avalanches. In this bonus round, payouts occur in both directions—left to right and right to left—except when five identical symbols land on a payline, which pays only in the standard direction. Additionally, bomb symbols may appear during free spins if a spin does not result in a win. These bombs come in three levels, capable of destroying the symbol they land on, the adjacent positions, or symbols two positions away, each initiating another avalanche.
Players also have the option to purchase the free spins bonus round through a Buy Bonus feature for 95 times their stake, rather than waiting for the scatter symbols to align. Monkeys Go Bananas MultiMax allows for a maximum win of up to 10,000 times the stake, with betting options ranging from 0.20 to 25 per spin. The game's high volatility suggests that while wins may be less frequent, they can be substantial when the features align favorably. The combination of Avalanche, wilds, reel multipliers, free spins, dual-direction payouts, and bombs contributes to a dynamic and potentially exhilarating gaming experience.
