Novomatic presents Diamond Tales The Ugly Duckling, a video slot featuring a 5×4 reel grid and 40 fixed paylines, inspired by the beloved fairy tale of the ugly duckling's transformation. The gameplay unfolds across five distinct chapters: Spring, Summer, Autumn, Winter, and the concluding Swan chapter, each introducing new visuals and mechanics as players gather Diamond Heart symbols. A unique Special Reel positioned above the main grid tracks these collected Diamond Hearts, which are essential for progressing through the chapters and enhancing gameplay features.
To activate the Diamond Tales™ Feature, players need to land three Book Bonus symbols on reels 1, 3, and 5. This bonus grants three respins, which reset with each new Diamond Heart that appears. Within this feature, two heart types are crucial: Red Diamond Hearts accumulate values on the same reel, while Gold Diamond Hearts serve as multipliers for any hearts already present on that reel. As players advance to higher chapters, the likelihood of encountering additional Gold Diamond Hearts increases, thereby boosting potential rewards.
The base game also includes the Snap Drop Feature, which can trigger at any moment if the Snap Drop symbol lands on the fifth reel while Diamond Hearts are present in the Special Reel. This feature awards a respin where only Diamond Hearts with multipliers are visible on active reels. Following this respin, all multiplier values from the Diamond Hearts on the main grid are totaled to multiply the triggering bet.
For players in eligible jurisdictions, a Buy Bonus option is available, allowing direct access to the Diamond Tales™ Feature without the need for regular spins. Wild symbols can substitute for regular symbols, excluding the Book Bonus, Snap Drop, and Diamond Heart symbols. The game features low-paying card ranks and farm animals, such as dogs and turkeys, with the duckling symbol and, in the Swan Feature chapter, the Swan symbol being among the highest paying icons.
You can play it for real money.
