Free the Dragon™

Free the Dragon™ is a video slot from Playtech that features a fantastic dragon theme, set in a medieval environment filled with treasures and mystical dragon symbols. The machine has five reels and three rows, using the "243 ways to win" mechanic, allowing winning combinations to form from adjacent symbols from left to right, without fixed paylines. In the base game, a Wild symbol substitutes for all common symbols, except for the special Pearls and Free Games symbols.

The main bonus feature is the "Dragon Feature" (or Hold & Win style), which is activated by landing six or more Pearl symbols. Once activated, three respins are awarded, during which the visible Pearls remain on the grid. New Pearl symbols during the respins reset the remaining respins back to three. Each Pearl symbol hides a value (from 1× to 250× the bet) or one of the four fixed jackpots: Mini, Minor, Major, and Grand. If all positions on the four standard reels are filled, the so-called Super Reel is unlocked, which spins once and reveals bonuses, jackpots, or multipliers.

Another highlighted feature is the Free Spins symbols. If three of these symbols appear on the reels (or through the Extra Bet option), free spins are activated. The Free Games symbols are sticky, remaining on the reels for three spins, and a new symbol can extend their duration. During the free spins, locked boxes will appear above and below the grid, which can be unlocked with keys: green keys for the upper boxes with multipliers of up to 100×, and red keys for the lower boxes with additional spins, instant prizes, or jackpots.

The game also offers the Extra Bet option, which increases the bet by approximately 25% and enhances the value of the Free Games symbols, improving the chances of activating Free Spins with more spins. There is no bonus buy feature, meaning it is not possible to directly purchase access to the bonus outside of regular gameplay. Free the Dragon™ features high volatility and places a strong emphasis on bonus features, such as the Dragon Feature and Free Spins, where most of the game's potential is found.
